About the Department\n
\nThe Product Testing team is responsible for evaluating a broad range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety-related products to ensure they meet required performance and protection standards.\n
\nProducts tested may include:\n
\nProtective gloves\n
\nFall protection equipment\n
\nMotorcycle apparel\n
\nHigh-visibility clothing\n
\nEye and face protection\n
\nHelmets\n
\nHearing protection\n
\nChainsaw protective clothing\n
\nKneepads\n
\nSports protection equipment\n
\nOther specialist protective products\n
\nThe department operates accredited laboratory facilities equipped with advanced testing machinery and instruments. Test results are used to support product development, regulatory compliance, and certification requirements.\n
\nThe team consists of skilled technicians, technologists, and support personnel who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality testing services to customers globally.\n
The Role\n
\nAn opportunity has arisen for a Technologist to join the Product Testing team.\n
\nKey responsibilities include:\n
\nConduct routine physical testing in accordance with recognised international and European standards.\n
\nOperate laboratory equipment and accurately record test data in both electronic and hard-copy formats.\n
\nPrepare technical reports detailing test results and findings.\n
\nLiaise with customers via email, telephone, and face-to-face meetings.\n
\nRespond to technical enquiries and advise customers on appropriate testing requirements.\n
\nMaintain accurate records and update job information using internal business systems.\n
\nContribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and testing procedures.\n
\nSupport business development and industry engagement activities, including seminars, webinars, exhibitions, and customer visits.\n
\nComprehensive training will be provided where required.\n
Candidate Profile\n
Essential Requirements\n
\nHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail.\n
\nSelf-motivated with the ability to use initiative.\n
\nLogical and methodical approach to work.\n
\nAbility to work both independently and as part of a team.\n
\nExperience dealing with customers in a professional environment.\n
\nAdaptable and responsive to changing priorities.\n
\nStrong organisational, time management, and communication skills.\n
\nGood working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.\n
Desirable Skills & Experience\n
\nExperience working within a laboratory or testing environment.\n
\nKnowledge of technical standards and compliance requirements.\n
\nUnderstanding of PPE manufacturing and performance requirements.\n
\nExperience using database or business management systems.\n
\nFamiliarity with quality management systems (QMS).\n
\nEducational background in Physics or a related scientific discipline.\n
\nExperience travelling for work purposes.\n
\nAdditional language skills.\n
