HGV Class 1 Driver – Alfreton, Derbyshire

People Solutions are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Alfreton, Derbyshire. This is an excellent opportunity for drivers looking for consistent ongoing work, with a pathway to a permanent contract for the right candidates through a 9-week temp to perm role.

This position is ideal for applicants looking for a role as a LGV Class 1 Driver, CE Driver or Articulated Lorry Driver.

Shifts

 • Monday to Friday (Weekend work available)
\n  • Various shifts available – earlies, late, and nights to suit

Rates of Pay

• Monday to Friday: £15.90 per hour
\n • Saturday: £18.48 per hour
\n • Sunday: £23.10 per hour
\n • £0.50 per hour bonus for completing all scheduled shifts

Day to Day Duties

 • HGV Class 1 general haulage deliveries (palletised goods)
\n  • Operating Category C+E vehicles safely and efficiently
\n  • Carrying out pre- and post-journey vehicle inspections
\n  • Flexible working options including nights out and tramping
\n  • Ensuring all goods are loaded and secured correctly
\n  • Adhering to UK traffic laws and transport regulations
\n  • Communicating effectively with the transport office and customers
\n  • Assisting with loading and unloading when required (curtain side and back loader vehicles)

Essential Skills

 • Valid Class 1 HGV Licence
\n  • Minimum 1 year Class 1 HGV driving experience
\n  • Valid UK CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
\n  • Maximum of 6 penalty points (no major endorsements)
\n  • Professional and reliable approach
\n  • Excellent communication skills
\n  • Good spoken and written English
\n  • Strong punctuality and timekeeping
\n  • Good understanding of UK road traffic laws

Desirable Experience

 • Previous commercial driving experience (minimum 1 year)

Training Provided

 • Driver assessment prior to starting
\n  • Ongoing industry-related training and support
