Behaviour Support Assistant\nLocation:\nHull and surrounding areas\nPay: £93 - £115\nStart Date - ASAP or September 2026\n\nGSL Education Hull are currently recruiting for dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistants to work within an Alternative Provision setting.\n\nThis rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.\n\nThe Role as a Behaviour Support Assistant:\n\nSupporting students who may display challenging behaviour\nBuilding positive and trusting relationships with pupils\nWorking on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings\nSupporting students both inside and outside of the classroom\nImplementing behaviour management strategies and intervention plans\nEncouraging engagement, emotional regulation, and positive decision-making\nAssisting teachers and pastoral teams to create a safe and supportive learning environment\n\nThe Ideal Support Assistant Will:\n\nHave experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs\nBe calm, patient, and resilient under pressure\nPossess strong communication and de-escalation skills\nBe confident managing challenging situations positively and professionally\nHave a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people\nHold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one\n\nWhat We Offer:\n\nFlexible and long-term opportunities available\nCompetitive rates of pay\nSupport from experienced education consultants\nOpportunities for ongoing CPD and training\nValuable experience within schools and alternative provisions\nThis role would suit candidates from education, youth work, care, coaching, sports, or support work backgrounds who are looking to make a real difference in young people’s lives.\n\nTo apply or find out more, please contact the Dena Gillies GSL Education Hull Branch.
